Japanese Newspapers Highlight Urban Ecosystem Restoration Events in Kanazawa

Newspapers from the Hokuriku region featured UNU-IAS events on creating cities in harmony with nature.

In May 2025, several newspapers in the Hokuriku region of Japan published articles highlighting a series of events co-organized by UNU-IAS in Kanazawa City. Bringing together experts from 11 cities that are part of the #GenerationRestoration Cities project led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the events included workshops, field visits and a public symposium celebrating International Day for Biological Diversity.

The symposium discussed restoration initiatives by seven cities, including Kanazawa, which are leaders in preserving and enhancing natural ecosystems.
