  • What will climate change mean for our communities and local green spaces?

  • Is sustainable food for all even possible? How can we bring together efficient food production and a healthy ecosystem?

  • How do we want to change our cities? Can they become both more environmentally friendly and more equitable?

The COSMO Sustainability Exhibition, as part of the COSMO Science Forum, aims to discuss these questions in the context of making our lives more sustainable and livable.

Scientists from Dresden have long researched the topic of sustainability and, with the help of more than ten exhibits, will present possible solutions to these and other pressing questions of our time from mid-March to mid-July in the COSMO Science Forum. The topics range shall from biodiversity, climate change and environmental protection to recycling, sustainable urban development, education, agriculture and nutrition. In addition to vivid models, interactive VirtualReality installations, displays, and videos will be on display. The exhibition will be accompanied by various events over the coming months.

UNU-FLORES will contribute to the exhibition via an interactive exhibition concept to represent the CS-NBSS/Green Toilet Project, including:

  • A demonstration tank (TEvap is a Nature-Based Sanitation Solution)

  • A video of the project, and

  • An explanatory banner for networking within the science community and/or with the general public

Background to the Event:

The Barkhausen Institute and the Chair of Technical Design opened the new science forum COSMO in the Kulturpalast in September. In a second exhibition starting in mid-March 2023, the forum presents research projects on "sustainability" with the involvement of institutes or professorships from Dresden. The forum illuminates complex topics from different perspectives and presents projects on topics such as recycling/circular design, (waste) water, resources/energy, sustainable urban development, agriculture/food, digitalisation/green tech, environmental protection/biodiversity and sustainable transformation.

The aim is to strengthen networking within the scientific community and the visibility of research activities among the general public and enter into a dialogue with the people from Dresden on the topic of sustainability

The event is free to attend and will take place at the Kulturpalast Dresden.
