Flor Vandevelde is a PhD Fellow at UNU-CRIS
He is also a teaching assistant at Ghent University at the department of economics under the supervision of Professor Dr. Ilse Ruyssen. During his PhD he will be affiliated with UNU-CRIS within the Migration and Social Policy Cluster. His research focuses on the development implications of involuntary immobility. He will use econometric methods to study what happens when governments restrict certain people to leave the country, both on an individual and more aggregate level.
Flor holds a master’s degree in economics from Ghent University. In his dissertation, also under the supervision of Professor Dr. Ilse Ruyssen, he investigated the impact of a partial migration ban in Sri Lanka on the people that were affected by it. He aims to continue this research during his PhD.
