Dimpho Deleglise is an Associate Research Fellow at UNU-CRIS
Dimpho is an academic researcher, working on the African Peace and Security Architecture and recently coordinating a project for the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung-Mozambique, on Violent Extremism in Southern Africa. Previously, she was a Research fellow with the Southern Africa Trust (SAT) where she worked on Optimising African regional mediation through the involvement of non-state actors, and institutionalising the role of civil society in conflict resolution. Prior, Dimpho Deleglise was a senior researcher at the Institute for Security Studies in Pretoria, South Africa, specialising on the political economy of conflicts in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region, SADC integration, regional security policy coordination, and modelling regional cooperation in peacebuilding and conflict mediation. Dimpho has worked for several international organisations as a regional peacebuilding, governance and evaluations consultant, including the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA), and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES).
She is trained in International Relations and African Security studies and holds a Masters and a Doctoral degree from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa. Her doctoral thesis offers a conceptual framework for evaluating the peacemaking effectiveness of the Southern African Development Community, in member states experiencing recurrent political conflicts.
Recent publications include an edited volume on regional conflict mediation in the SADC region, a book chapter on SADC mediation in recurrent conflicts and long-term conflict transformation, a Monograph contribution on the Complexities of Coalition Politics in Southern Africa) and a journal contribution on Modelling cooperative Peacekeeping in Africa.
