Amandine Gnanguênon is Associate Research Fellow at UNU-CRIS
Amandine is also Visiting Fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) Africa programme, working on a research project to map-out bilateral support from five European countries (France, Germany, UK, Italy and Sweden) to African Regional Organizations (AROs) in West and Central Africa.
Previously, she was the Director of the War and Political reconstruction project (2012-2016), which ocused on political reconstruction in war zones, based on cross-area comparative and trans-regional studies (Africa, Asia and the Middle East). This project was hosted by the Institut des mondes africains (IMAF) at the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (EHESS), winning project of the "Emergences Program" of Paris City. She was also a senior researcher at the Institute of Security Studies (ISS) in Dakar (2014) and head of the sub-Saharan Africa programme at the Institute of Strategic Research, Ecole Militaire (IRSEM), French MoD think tank, in Paris (2010-2013).
She holds a PhD in political science from the University Clermont Auvergne where she is Associate Fellow. She was awarded a scholarship from the French Ministry of defence to conduct her PhD thesis on the evolution of regional multilateralism (European Union, United Nations, African Union and Regional Economic Communities) to deal with system of conflicts in sub-Saharan Africa.
Her research interests are regionalism and regionalization in West Africa, African Peace and Security Architecture (APSA), comparative regionalism in Africa (African Regional Organizations and African coalitions), and African conflict prevention mechanisms (esp. regional early warning system).
