Allama Elmehdi is a Visiting Research Fellow at UNU-CRIS.
Dr. Allama Elmehdi is a Health Investment & Innovation Strategist and Chief Compliance Officer for healthcare robotic projects, working at the intersection of global health, healthcare investment, regulatory affairs, governance, and innovation. She currently serves as GCC Director at the Biotechnology Business Institute of Cambridge and is engaged in international initiatives spanning global health systems, geo-health, humanitarian health, biotechnology, digital health, global health security, and healthcare market development. Her expertise includes health economics and financing, FDA and EMA regulatory affairs, medical-device and software-as-a-medical-device governance, GRC, healthcare investment, MENA market access, AI governance, and global public health security.
Her professional and academic engagements include serving as a mentor at New York University Abu Dhabi, PM for Social Impact Projects at the Project Management Institute, Community Leader at the Global Innovation Institute, and Co-convener at the International Health Economics Association. She also serves as Deputy Secretary-General of the Core Steering Committee (CSC) of the Nouakchott Declaration Group under the African Association of Nephrology, and contributed as an expert and co-author to the Nouakchott Declaration, developing the first African guidelines on organ donation and transplantation. She has further contributed as an expert to international public-health and harm-reduction work addressing the needs of Global South countries, including the Marrakech Declaration on Harm Reduction.
During her visiting research fellowship at UNU-CRIS, Dr. Allama Elmehdi will primarily work on the intersections between nature, climate and health, with particular attention to geo-health, climate-related health risks, health-system resilience, and the governance and investment frameworks required to strengthen health security and sustainable development in vulnerable and emerging contexts. Her fellowship research will be conducted under the supervision and in close collaboration with Nidhi Nagabhatla within the Nature, Climate and Health Cluster.
