This webinar for the Global Governance Innovation Platform (GGI) examined how the shift to post-quantum cryptography could widen global digital inequalities if low- and middle-income countries lack the resources and expertise to adapt. Speakers highlighted the risks posed by quantum-enabled cyber threats and emphasized the need for early planning, international cooperation, and targeted support to help countries upgrade cybersecurity systems and build capacity. The discussion also explored practical pathways for financing, knowledge-sharing, and multilateral collaboration, underscoring that a coordinated global approach will be essential to ensure a more secure and equitable transition to quantum-resilient systems.
The project is led by TU Dresden in close collaboration with national and international partners, including UNU Resource Nexus, and brings together a strong interdisciplinary network of principal investigators and cooperation partners.
The project runs as a Cluster of Excellence led by Technische Universität Dresden and RWTH Aachen University, with participation from international partners including UNU Resource Nexus.
