Sophie Buddenhorn is a Global Governance Research and Planning Associate contributing to the work of the High-Level Advisory Board on Effective Multilateralism at the United Nations University Centre for Policy Research.

Before joining UNU-CPR, Ms Buddenhorn served as a Building Integrity Officer in the Defence and Security Cooperation Directorate at the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO), working on good governance capacity building for NATO Allies and partners. She also held an internship within NATO’s International Military Staff, supporting the Alliance’s politico-military relations with partners in the MENA region.

Prior to this, she was a Carlo Schmid Fellow with UNU-CPR and contributed to projects on migration and security.

Ms Buddenhorn holds a graduate degree in International Security from University College London. During that time, she also interned with the Policy Research Unit at the UK Parliament, drafting correspondence and policy briefs for Members of Parliament. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Maastricht University.
