"Impulsouth 2: Driving a just and equitable energy transition by bridging the gap on capacity in the Global South" is a collaborative initiative that connects and strengthens institutions shaping the energy transition, enabling change and facilitating South-South cooperation.
Key programmatic elements include:
- Community of Practice (CoP): The CoP brings together practitioners from universities, NGOs, enterprise support organizations, sectoral associations, and regional and international policy and technical associations, to strengthen institutions’ role in a just and equitable energy transition. It facilitates virtual exchanges across continents, enabling practitioners in Africa and Latin America to share experiences, replicate successful models, and develop locally-driven solutions.
- Training of Trainers (ToT) program: The ToT program trains CoP members on 'Accelerating Just Energy Transitions', building a multiplier effect by equipping local trainers to design capacity-building and entrepreneurial solutions in their own contexts.
Learning and Innovation Grants: Impulsouth strengthens national institutions and accelerates gender-just energy transitions through targeted regranting to support locally-led projects that contribute to institutional strengthening, programmatic growth and innovation. - South-South Dialogues: Through a global dialogue strategy, the CoP informs policymakers and issues actionable recommendations, working closely with Action for Climate Empowerment focal points to ensure that insights and recommendations are effectively communicated and drive meaningful policy action.
- Open-Access Platform: Facilitates South-South knowledge sharing through an open-access platform to exchange information, connect with a broader network, foster collaboration and share best practices.
Impulsouth is supported by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), and implemented by Fundación Avina and United Nations University - Vice Rectorate in Europe.
