Yannick is a PhD fellow at the United Nations University (UNU-MERIT) and a team member at the Living Standards Measurement unit (LSMS) of the World Bank.
Yannick's research covers governance issues in public finance in low-income countries (LICs) as well as economic shocks to vulnerable populations in Sub-Saharan Africa. He collects and uses survey microdata - often linked with large administrative datasets - to study:
(i) How emerging economies can sustainably raise tax revenue
(ii) The impact of economic shocks on the living standards of vulnerable populations,
(iii) How we can get higher quality data on hard-to-measure but policy-relevant issues in international development.
Much of this research uses large-scale field- or methodological experiments.
Yannick holds a postgraduate degree with distinction in Economics for Development from the University of Oxford and has previously worked for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Brazil.
