The United Nations University Institute in Macau welcomed representatives from Xi’an Jiaotong University on Nov. 7, including Zheng Xuhong, Director of the Student Employment and Entrepreneurship Center, and Yang Yuan, Supervisor of Employment and Entrepreneurship, to discuss potential collaborations.
The meeting aimed to strengthen ties between the institutions, following the United Nations University’s strategic focus on knowledge, partnerships and impact. During the discussions, the two teams explored opportunities for collaboration, especially in the areas of student internships and research projects.
Serge Stinckwich, head of research at UNU Macau, offered insights into existing internship programs and shared experiences from recent student career development initiatives. Zheng Xuhong expressed strong interest in developing a structured internship collaboration, seeing it as an essential bridge between academia and practical experience.
Research collaboration was also highlighted, with Zheng noting the established AI research team at Xi’an Jiaotong University. Both institutions are considering an additional mechanism focused on academic collaboration to facilitate future joint research projects, particularly in AI and other emerging fields.
The exchange concluded with a commitment to further discussions and a mutual interest in creating opportunities that benefit students and expand research capacities. Both UNU Macau and Xi’an Jiaotong University are optimistic about the potential for these initiatives to foster skill development and academic growth within an international framework.
