The UNU Digital Technology and Sustainable Development Talent Program Winter Camp was officially launched on February 23, 2026 at the United Nations University Institute in Macau. The five-day programme runs from February 23 to 27, 2026.
Themed "Digital Technology and Sustainable Development in the Age of AI," this year’s Winter Camp explores how digital technologies, particularly AI, are reshaping work, governance and public policy. The programme examines the broader implications of AI for labour markets and inclusive growth, while considering its practical potential to address real-world development challenges and advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This year’s camp welcomes a diverse cohort of 28 young scholars and early-career researchers from renowned institutions worldwide, including Macau University of Science and Technology, Sapienza University of Rome, Tsinghua University, and the University of Hong Kong.
Through in-person sessions in Macau, participants engage with UNU Macau experts on the intersection of AI, digital governance and sustainable development. The programme combines policy-oriented research training, thematic discussions and collaborative group work, providing participants with practical insights into how evidence informs policy processes in international contexts.
The Winter Camp aims to strengthen participants’ professional competencies, broaden global perspectives, and foster the next generation of interdisciplinary leaders working at the intersection of digital technology and sustainable development.
