This session, co-organized by UNU-INWEH, UNESCO, The UNU Hub on Engineering to Face Climate Change at the Hamburg University of Technology, The UNU Hub on Remote Sensing and Sustainable Innovations for Resilient Urban Systems (R-SIRUS), and The UNU Hub on Water in a Changing Environment (WICE), will showcase the UN Water Conference Academic Hub.
The UN Water Conference Academic Hub is a joint initiative co-led by UNU, UNESCO and UNITAR, in collaboration with UN DESA and other members of the Task Force on “Water Action Decade Implementation,” as well as UN-Water Members and Partners. The Academic Hub provides a collaborative platform to mobilize knowledge, expertise, and diverse perspectives in support of the 2026 Conference. It offers a clear and accessible entry point for contributors to engage meaningfully in the Conference process and to help shape its outcomes through evidence-based inputs.
The session will present the contributions to the Hub and demonstrate how it translates research into concise outputs that inform UN Water Conference discussions and follow‑up action. Panelists will highlight how the Hub has synthesized research across thematic priorities, elevated diverse voices—including researchers from the Global South and early‑career experts—and created structured pathways for academic contributions to shape conference dialogues and long‑term water governance processes.
