A Dialogue on Advancing Global Cooperation for Climate Action

Implementing the Paris Agreement

Time
- America/Toronto
Details
Open to public

The Paris Agreement, adopted at COP21 in 2015, is a landmark accord within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) aimed at limiting global warming to well below 2°C, with efforts to restrict it to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. This agreement builds upon previous international climate efforts and sets a long-term global framework for addressing climate change through mitigation, adaptation, and financial support, thereby guiding global action towards a sustainable, low-carbon future.

The United Nations University Institute for Water, Environment and Health, in partnership with the Environment Management Group has the pleasure of organizing a Dialogue Series, aiming to explore coordinated approaches within the UN system concerning the Paris Agreement, the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, Land Degradation Neutrality, and other key Multilateral Environmental Agreement targets, in preparation for the respective Conferences of the Parties (COP) meetings in 2024. Building on the work of the UN Environment Management Group and its collaborations across the United Nations system, this Dialogue will examine innovative ways that coordinated and collaborative efforts within the UN system can contribute to the Paris Agreement.
