Marianne Lahaie Luna is a public health researcher focused on the complex relationship between precarious housing and food behaviors, particularly for Latinx immigrants in Toronto.
Her professional experience spans across diverse institutions, including the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
At UNU-INWEH, Marianne focuses on developing and delivering WASH-related courses tailored to practitioners, public health professionals, policymakers, academics, and students.
Beyond her academic pursuits, Marianne actively advocates for menstrual health rights as co-founder of the Lahaie Luna Lezama NGO. Through this organization she has made a tangible difference in the lives of over 1,000 women by providing access to environmentally and economically sustainable menstrual products.
Marianne is pursuing her PhD in Geography and Planning at the University of Toronto, where she is also a Junior Fellow at Massey College. She has Master of Public Health from the same University and a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Environmental Science from the University of Ottawa. She is fluent in English, French, and Spanish, and is currently learning Italian.
