Kwan Soo Chen is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the United Nations University – International Institute for Global Health (UNU-IIGH). She facilitates the Catalyzing Policy Improvement in Africa (CPIA) project which aims to advance maternal, newborn, sexual and reproductive health in Burkina Faso, Mozambique, Senegal, Tanzania and Uganda. She also works on climate change and health in Southeast Asia. 

Dr Kwan has a background in environmental and urban health. Prior to joining UNU-IIGH, she held positions at the Center for Southeast Asian Studies, Kyoto University and the National University of Malaysia (UKM). She was involved in studies of health co-benefits from public transport and electric vehicles; travel behaviors; urban built environment and health; climate change impacts on children in Malaysia; and environmental health risk assessments, among others.
