Global Youth MIDORI platform (GYM) is the joint project established between UNU-IAS and AEON Environmental Foundation under the MOU on Collaborative Activities. The objective of this project is to enhance the capacity of youth to develop solutions for biodiversity loss and other global challenges. Additionally, it seeks to establish a platform for youth to exchange ideas and network, which contributes to advancing meaningful youth participation in international policy-making processes in these critical areas.

The project consists of four main activities:

  1. International global training with a speech contest
  2. Participation at international conferences for selected winners of the speech contests
  3. Outreach
  4. Follow-up activities

Through these activities, participating youth will develop the ability to understand global environmental challenges from multiple perspectives, create cross-disciplinary solutions, and effectively communicate their ideas to international audiences. In doing so, the project contributes building the capacities that youth need for meaningful participation, recognizing them as main actors in policy-making processes and achieving international targets, including those set by the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF).
