Local Media Feature Visit to Ishikawa Prefecture with UNFCCC

On 21, 22 and 23 August 2023, several articles in local media featured a field visit to Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan, by UNU-IAS and Dr Youssef Nassef.

On 21, 22 and 23 August 2023, several articles in local media featured a field visit to Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan, by UNU-IAS and Dr Youssef Nassef, Director of the Adaptation Programme at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Secretariat.

While in Ishikawa, Dr Nassef met the owner of a factory producing charcoal in a sustainable way and gained firsthand knowledge on Noto's inspiring efforts to achieve the SDGs and conserve satoyama and satoumi landscapes.

He was accompanied by Shen Xiaomeng (Vice-Rector in Europe, UNU and Director, UNU Institute for Environment and Human Security) and Shinobu Yume Yamaguchi (Director, UNU-IAS).
