Global RCE Network

Fostering learning and action for a more sustainable world

Workshop activity at the 15th Asia-Pacific RCE Regional Meeting

The Regional Centres of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development (RCEs) are networks that facilitate learning and action on sustainability in their communities. Each RCE brings together organizations and individuals to promote education for sustainable development (ESD), build innovative knowledge-sharing platforms, and encourage dialogue and collaboration between diverse stakeholders.

RCEs started in 2005 as part of the ESD project of UNU-IAS which contributed to the United Nations Decade of ESD. Through their local knowledge and convening power, RCEs play a crucial role in advancing the priority action areas of the ESD for 2030 roadmap — increasing the contribution of education towards a more just and sustainable world.

There are 200 RCEs acknowledged by UNU, forming the Global RCE Network, a transboundary learning space for sustainable development.
