Samira’s interdisciplinary research focuses on managing complex risks and advancing climate-resilient development. Working at the intersection of risk knowledge, co-production and actionable solutions, she supports adaptive planning across timescales. Her work emphasizes inclusive, evidence-based approaches to risk management that strengthen decision-making under climate uncertainty.

At UNU-EHS Samira has been working on risk management and adaptive planning, in a number of projects on systemic risks, adaptation pathways and impact-based early warning and risk-informed action. Samira has experience working across India, the Greater Horn of Eastern Africa, the SADC region and Europe with a diverse range of stakeholders. She has a core interest in applying participatory methods, and works with various analytical tools for risk assessment. Samira has supported teaching on gender and climate adaptation at UNU-EHS, supported a number of capacity-building initiatives and enjoys co-creating user-friendly outputs.  Prior to the working at UNU-EHS, she worked on community-based early warning in India. She holds a BSc in Development studies and Human Geography from Lund University, Sweden and an M.Sc in Geography of Environmental Risk and Human Security.
