Lisa is a Geographer, who is enthusiastic about what we are able to achieve when working with nature and preserving its values. She is a research associate at UNU-EHS and currently works on green development strategies for coastal regions.
Lisa has joined UNU-EHS first as a student assistant and then as a researcher in February 2023, after finishing the Joint MSc in Geography of Environmental Risks and Human Security from the UNU-EHS and the University of Bonn. In her Master's thesis, Lisa explored how losses and damages to ecosystems and their services could be addressed in a green post-pandemic recovery of coastal regions. Her research interests encompass ecosystem-based approaches for disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation, loss and damage of ecosystem services as well as sustainable solutions to address land degradation.
Prior to joining UNU-EHS, Lisa Hartmann has been engaged in the field of disaster management, working at the German Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK). Here, she worked on the use of new technologies in civil protection.
