Edward’s multi-disciplinary research expertise covers complex risk analysis, pathways approaches for risk management and adaptation, and monitoring, evaluation and learning. He is passionate about bottom-up and transboundary knowledge co-creation to tackle complex global challenges linked to the climate crisis.

Edward has experience working across Southern and Eastern Africa, South Asia, South America and Europe with diverse groups of stakeholders, focusing predominantly on understanding and managing the complex impacts from climate change and disasters. He is an expert in adaptation pathways approaches, and is passionate about developing practical tools and knowledge products that can be used by others to deliver impactful policies and strengthen climate-resilient development.

Edward is involved in a number of teaching activities, and coordinates the Risk and Vulnerability Master's specialization at UNU-MERIT. Prior to working at UNU-EHS, Edward worked for an agricultural research institution in Suriname, South America. He holds a BSc and MSc in Environmental Science from the University of Brighton (United Kingdom) and Wageningen University (the Netherlands), respectively, where he specialized in water systems and global change. He is currently pursuing his PhD at Wageningen University, where he is developing adaptation pathways approaches for managing complex climate change risks. His passion for surfing, skiing and the outdoors while growing up was one of the driving factors for pursuing a career in environmental research.
