Rustam Samadov is a (virtual) Visiting Research Fellow at UNU-CRIS
He holds a PhD degree in Central Asian studies from the Humboldt University in Berlin. Prior to his doctoral studies, Rustam worked in the sector of humanitarian and development aid in Tajikistan, assisting refugees and stateless people at the Danish Refugee Council and as a coordinator of grassroots projects at the Embassy of Japan in Tajikistan.
During his stay at UNU-CRIS, Rustam will work within the Migration and Social Policy Cluster. He will primarily focus on gender practices and transnational polygynous relations of Tajik migrant men in Russia.
Recently, his book “Masculinities of Tajik labor migrants: Transformations of gender roles and practices in a transnational migration context” was published. The book explores migrant men’s masculine practices in the contexts of labor migration, work and transnational family relations.
