Jiayi Xu is a Research Intern at UNU-CRIS.
During her research internship at UNU-CRIS, Jiayi Xu will primarily work on updating the dataset and expanding source coverage for the Bayesian Corruption Index (BCI) under the supervision of Glenn Rayp and Samuel Standaert.
Jiayi is pursuing a Master's degree in Economics of Globalisation and European Integration as part of an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree at Ghent University, alongside a Master of Finance (AI focused) at Xiamen University in China. Her coursework in advanced econometrics, macroeconomics, and international economics provides the technical foundation for composite index construction and panel data analysis. She is particularly interested in institutional economics and policy evaluation.
Before joining UNU-CRIS, Jiayi developed hands-on experience in large-scale data construction and econometric analysis. She also implemented NLP-based text mining using AI model. Her internships at CITIC Securities, Guosen Securities, and Beijing Pan-Pacific Company involved structured data collection and automated research reporting. She is proficient in Python, Stata, and Excel, with a proven ability to clean, standardize, and structure multi-source data for policy-oriented empirical work.
