Daniel Alejo is a PhD Fellow at UNU-CRIS

Daniel Alejo is a PhD fellow at UNU-CRIS within the Nature, Climate and Health Cluster and a PhD Researcher in the ERC Curiae Virides project at the Brussels School of Governance, Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Under the supervision of Liliana  Lizarazo Rodriguez, he aims to analyse the socio-legal context and role of stakeholders and ecocentric networks in the transformation of human rights litigations into ecocentric litigations. His research combines different theoretical approaches, the sociology of law, political ecology and ecological economics, and uses mixed-methods including social network analysis and qualitative comparative analysis.

Prior to his PhD, Daniel interned at the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) in the Independent Office of Evaluation and worked as an independent research consultant for different civil society organisations. Daniel co-authored a forthcoming publication in the Journal of Political Ecology and authored a Latin American briefing paper for Society for International Development (SID).
