New Visiting Fellows

UNU-CPR is happy to welcome a Senior Visiting Fellow and a Visiting Fellow to its programmes.

Two new Visiting Fellows will be working with UNU-CPR over the coming months, on The Future of Multilateralism and Preventing Violent Conflict programmes.

David Whineray is a Senior Visiting Fellow and will be working within UNU-CPR's The Future of Multilateralism programme. He is also a Fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington DC; a Visiting Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley and at Columbia University in New York; and a Visiting Assistant Professor of Global Affairs at New York University. Mr Whineray was previously Deputy Under Secretary for Political Affairs in the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) where he was involved in all major foreign policy dossiers, as well as UK relations with Europe and the US.

Dr Charles T. Hunt is a Visting Fellow and will be working within UNU-CPR's Preventing Violent Conflict programme. He is also a Vice Chancellor’s Senior Research Fellow in the School of Global, Urban & Social Studies at RMIT University in Melbourne Australia, and an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the Asia Pacific Centre for the Responsibility to Protect at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. Dr Hunt is currently an Australian Research Council DECRA fellow (2017-2020). His research in the field of international relations, peace and conflict studies focuses on four main areas: The changing nature of United Nations peace operations; peacebuilding and governance in conflict-affected countries and regions; evaluation, impact assessment and organizational learning in conflict management, peacebuilding and development programming; and the protection of civilians in armed conflict, the ‘Responsibility to Protect’ (R2P) and prevention of mass atrocity crimes.
