Use of Private Security Companies in War

The use of mercenaries and private security companies in conflicts.

Dr Erica Gaston spoke to Phillip Adams on Australian Broadcasting Corporation on the use of mercenaries and private security companies in conflicts, following reports that Russia has been engaging a private security company in Ukraine. She notes that Russia is not the only State to engage in such tactics and has been a trend of military industrialization since the 1990s, which can be used to lower official casualty rates and deflect responsibility for acts of war.
