UNU-BIOLAC Welcomes Dr. Daniel Domínguez Gomez for Collaborative Visit in Caracas

The visit seeks support and coordination for strengthening our public-policy impact efforts

We recently had the pleasure of hosting Daniel Dominguez Gomez, a distinguished science public policy researcher and collaborator of UNU-BIOLAC, for a series of meetings and discussions. Dr. Domínguez Gomez, a leading member of Allbiotech, visited Caracas to evaluate the 2024 performance of the online capacity-building program designed for decision-makers, "Webinar Series: The potential of genome editing."

During his stay, Dr. Domínguez engaged in insightful discussions with the BIOLAC team about his two experiences with these webinars for officials from Mexico and Guatemala. Together, they identified challenges and opportunities for improvement and planned new actions, including but not limited to replicating this successful experience in other countries across Latin America and the Caribbean.

In addition to the meetings, Dr. Domínguez had the opportunity to visit various research centers in Caracas. These visits allowed him to connect with local professionals in the field and gain valuable perspectives on the objectives of this formation project for government officials, a joint initiative by UNU-BIOLAC and Allbiotech.

The visit also allowed Dr. Domínguez Gomez to meet the BIOLAC team, with whom he has been working remotely from Mexico. This face-to-face interaction was highly beneficial, as it enabled collaborative thinking on ways to enhance the efficiency and impact of our partnership. The overarching goal remains the promotion of biotechnology for regional development, a cause that unites BIOLAC and Allbiotech.
