Alexis Salazar is a Ph.D. Fellow at UNU-MERIT.
He holds a Master's in Competition and Regulation from the Barcelona School of Economics, a Master's in Economics from Universidad de Chile, and a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the same university. He is currently a Senior Economist at Butelmann Consultores and a lecturer at the Diploma in Competition of the Adolfo Ibáñez University. Before joining UNU-MERIT, he worked as Chief Economist and Economist at the National Economic Prosecutor’s Office in Chile (Fiscalía Nacional Económica) at the Anti-Cartels Division, where he was responsible for the economic analysis of collusion cases, with the objective of taking them to court. Also, he worked as a Consultant at Compass Lexecon Brussels and Madrid. His field of interest is mainly focused on empirical research understanding the dynamics of competition and their implications for public policy design, where his actual investigation is based on applied health economics in Chile.
