Dr. Shokouh Abadi is a lawyer (Barrister and Solicitor) and educator with over 15 years of experience in legal practice and academia across multiple jurisdictions.
As the Rule of Law and Human Rights Policy Fellow at UNU-INWEH, Dr. Abadi works on the intersection of access to justice, environmental governance, and sustainable development, with an emphasis on enhancing legal literacy in environmental policy and water-related issues. Her work highlights the critical role of the rule of law in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly the connection between SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).
Dr. Abadi teaches part-time at the Lincoln Alexander School of Law at Toronto Metropolitan University. She has designed legal bootcamps and educational programs to raise public awareness of legal rights and improve access to justice. With a strong commitment to women's empowerment, she has collaborated with various organizations to deliver legal courses for women entrepreneurs.
She holds a Ph.D. in International Business Law from King’s College London, as well as LL.M. and LL.B. degrees. Her legal education and professional experience span North America, Europe, and the Middle East giving her a broad and nuanced understanding of diverse legal systems and cultures.
