Dr. Leila Hashemi-Beni's work focuses on advancing geospatial and Earth observation technologies to support environmental management, evidence-based decision-making, climate adaptation, and sustainability.
At UNU-INWEH, Dr. Hashemi-Beni contributes to efforts in advanced geospatial analytics and remote sensing, applying AI and machine learning to address water-related environmental challenges such as floods, water quality, and land use change.
Dr. Hashemi-Beni is an Associate Professor of Geospatial and Remote Sensing in the Department of Built Environment at the College of Science and Technology at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. She has served as Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator on numerous projects funded by NASA, US National Science Foundation, NOAA, Microsoft, US Department of Agriculture, the North Carolina Collaboratory, and North Carolina Department of Transportation.
