Professor Ashok Mishra is a globally well-known scientist in developing new theories, concepts, and modeling tools for drought management. He has implemented various statistical, hydrological, and machine-learning models to solve complex problems related to the impact of extreme climate and weather events on society, with a focus on water and food security.

As the Compound Extremes and Climate Analytics Lead at UNU-INWEH, Professor Mishra is setting up new research initiatives that increase the understanding of climate extremes (e.g. precipitation extremes, droughts, floods and heatwaves) and the preparedness for mitigating the climate change impacts on compound extreme events.

Dr Mishra is a Professor in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences at Clemson University and an Editor of the ASCE’s Journal of Hydrologic Engineers. He has received numerous awards for his interdisciplinary research, including the NSF CAREER award. Currently, he is serving as an.
