Please continue to check the UNU-IAS website and the UNU-IAS social media accounts for updated information.

About the Programmes

The UNU-IAS postgraduate degree programmes aim to produce the policymakers and researchers of tomorrow who will be at the forefront of global efforts towards a more sustainable future.

UNU-IAS students benefit from the unique opportunity to study in central Tokyo at a global university within the framework of the United Nations. Students gain both academic knowledge and practical research skills by actively contributing to the institute’s policy-oriented research areas.

Both programmes are intended for recent graduates, professionals and practitioners aiming to pursue internationally focused careers, through employment in UN agencies, other international organizations, governments, civil society, or the private sector. All lectures are conducted in English. Enrolled students will have the opportunity to obtain credits not only from UNU-IAS but also other leading universities in Japan. Joint diplomas programmes with the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Frontier Science (UT-GSFS) and Sophia University are also available.

How to Apply

Please visit the Degree Programmes section of the UNU-IAS website to find out more about application requirements and procedures.
