UNU-IAS Workshops at Expo 2025 Featured in Malaysian Newspaper

Utusan Malaysia published an article featuring our sessions on the importance of traditional Indigenous knowledge in protecting biodiversity.

On 6 September 2025, the daily newspaper Utusan Malaysia published an article on the UNU-IAS workshops held at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan. Organized as part of the Junior SDGs Camp and moderated by Giselle Lugo Miole (JSPS-UNU Postdoctoral Fellow, UNU-IAS), the workshops inspired participants to embrace lessons from traditional wisdom alongside modern scientific insights.

The author of the article is Ahmad Ali Bin A Karim (Youth Coordinator, RCE Greater Gombak) who facilitated an interactive card game during the workshops exploring the connections between Indigenous culture and nature. The full article is available in the Malay language on the Utusan Malaysia website (behind a paywall) and in print.
