Op-ed Highlights Health & Well-being Impacts of Climate Change

An op-ed on Japan Today calls for placing health and well-being at the centre of the climate conversation.

On 16 July 2024 Japan Today, an English-language online newspaper, published an opinion piece by Yasushi Katsuma (Academic Director, UNU-IAS) on health and well-being in the context of climate change. Published around the 10th anniversary of UNU-IAS, the piece highlights the health benefits of tackling climate change and argues that knowledge and education are critical to empower people to take individual climate action.

Excerpt:

Higher education institutions that adopt a multidisciplinary approach to climate education and put youth at the center of the conversation are essential.
