On 1 July 2025, International Development Journal published a two-page article introducing UNU, which features UNU-IAS research activities and postgraduate education initiatives. Published in Japan, the journal focuses on international cooperation and development.
UNU-IAS expert Yasushi Katsuma (Academic Programme Advisor) provided comments for the article, which introduces the UNU system and its mission. It highlights that UNU is the only UN organization headquartered in Japan, with 13 research institutes located across the globe.
The article contains a column introducing UNU-IAS research activities in the institute’s four thematic areas: governance for climate change and sustainable development, biodiversity and society, water and resource management, and innovation and education.
It outlines UNU-IAS postgraduate education and academic initiatives, and highlights the opportunity for students to take courses at partner universities such as the University of Tokyo and Sophia University.
The article is available in print, in Japanese. It can be ordered online on the International Development website and in bookstores in Japan.
