UNU-IAS OUIK SDGs Café 20 — Inclusive Disaster Risk Management

UNU-IAS will organise the 20th SDGs Café on inclusive disaster risk management.

Time
- Asia/Tokyo

UNU-IAS will host the 20th SDGs Café on the topic “Inclusive Disaster Risk Management” on 16 September 2022 at 19:00 – 20:30 JST. The event will be organised by UNU-IAS Operating Unit Ishikawa Kanazawa (OUIK).

Data shows that when disasters occur, socially vulnerable populations and those requiring additional support are disproportionately affected. Eighty per cent of the victims of the 2018 torrential rain disaster in western Japan were elderly and disabled persons. There is also a need to address issues such as sexual and domestic violence in evacuation centres. SDGs Café #20 will discuss disaster risks in Kanazawa City and inclusive disaster risk management that takes into account different needs. What measures are necessary to implement disaster risk reduction that leaves no one behind?

Participation

Please note that this event will be in Japanese only, with no English translation provided.
