The 12th Japan Youth Environmental Activity Contest will be held on 30–31 January 2027, with regional contests held in eight locations across Japan starting in November 2026. The contest aims to empower high school students by showcasing their student-led local actions for sustainability, and fostering peer exchange to scale up their initiatives. This annual event is co-organized by UNU-IAS; the Ministry of the Environment, Japan (MOEJ); and the Environmental Restoration and Conservation Agency, Japan (ERCA).
Schools wishing to participate are invited to submit their presentations in Japanese through the contest website. The application deadline is 27 October 2026 (18:00 JST).
