Shengru Li is a Research Fellow and Academic Associate for the Innovation and Education Programme at UNU-IAS.

Prior to joining UNU, he worked as a test solutions engineer at Micron Technology and researcher at Global Scientific Information and Computing Center, Tokyo Institute of Technology. He has over six years of working experience with development projects and data science combined. His experience in development covers educational development, ICT application for regional development, and comparative studies of 21st century skills in Asia and the Pacific. He also has industry experience in algorithm development and data-driven process evaluations.

Dr. Li has worked on two grassroots projects of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), developing his profile in survey design, strategic data collection, framework building with appropriate data analysis methods, and effective report writing. He was also involved with heritage data management of Luang Prabang, Lao PDR, and of small island states in the Pacific.
