Surbhi is a Research Associate in the Global Mountain Safeguard Research (GLOMOS) programme at UNU-EHS in Bonn. GLOMOS works to advance disaster risk reduction (DRR), climate change adaptation (CCA) and emergency response preparedness (ERP) in mountain regions globally.
Within UNU-EHS, Surbhi contributes to TRANSMIT, a project focused on sustainable forest management and reducing disaster risk in the Western Himalayas. Her work spans historical trend analysis, spatial assessment and the study of linkages between climatic variability, natural hazards and land-use dynamics, exploring how these interactions shape the resilience of mountain ecosystems and communities under future scenarios.
Prior to joining UNU-EHS, Surbhi worked as a Student Assistant at GRAS GmbH in Cologne, gaining experience in geospatial data management and earth observation applications. She also worked as a Research Associate with an NGO in Pune, India, conducting landscape assessments to support conservation initiatives and environmental protection.
