As part of the Write. Review. Publish. Webinar Series on Academic Publishing, the United Nations University Operating Unit on Policy-driven Electronic Governance (UNU-EGOV) is organizing the fifth webinar of the series, dedicated to exploring publishing challenges and strategies for overcoming these challenges, with a focus on enhancing academic rigor and quality.
The session will take place on May 5th, at 14h00 (Lisbon Time | UTC+1). The guest is Marijn Janssen, a Full Professor in "ICT and Governance" of the ESS (Engineering Systems and Services) department of the Technology, Policy and Management Faculty of Delft University of Technology.
The webinar will focus on publishing as a process rather than a single event, and recommendations will be provided to improve the process and ensure alignment with the scope and standards of a journal.

Strategies and recommendations for developing and positioning research, preparing manuscripts, targeting appropriate journals, and addressing reviewer comments will be provided. As an editor with extensive experience, Janssen will share actionable insights to improve submission success rates, including common pitfalls and best practices.

Speaker Bio
Marijn Janssen is a Full Professor in "ICT and Governance" of the ESS (Engineering Systems and Services) department of the Technology, Policy and Management Faculty of Delft University of Technology. He is both ranked in computer science (no. 6), and business and management (no.2) in the Netherlands by research.com in 2024. Since 2022, he has been consistently ranked in the Clarivate Highly Cited Researchers in the top 1% by citations for their field(s) and publication year in the Web of Science over the past decade. Marijn is particularly interested in situations in which multiple public and private organizations want to collaborate, in which ICT plays an enabling role, socio-technical solutions are constrained by organizational realities and political wishes, and there are various ways to proceed.
