On September 9th, the United Nations University – Operating Unit on Policy-Driven Electronic Governance (UNU-EGOV) welcomed representatives of the Delegation of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Local Government of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau for an institutional visit to its premises in Guimarães.
The visit took place as part of an Institutional Mission titled “Cooperation for Local Development: Heritage, Knowledge, Innovation and Good Governance”, which aimed to promote the exchange of experiences and best practices between the Municipality of Guimarães and the delegation.
As part of its efforts to showcase the municipality’s integrated development model and explore opportunities for future cooperation, the Municipality of Guimarães proposed a visit to UNU-EGOV.
The delegation included Pequeno Nanfade, Regional Secretary of Bafatá (Regional Government of Bafatá), Iaia Baldé, Regional Secretary of Oio (Regional Government of Oio), and Aliu Colubali, Sector Administrator of Mansoa (Mansoa Administration).
During the meeting, UNU-EGOV Director Delfina Soares and Deputy Director Luís Soares Barbosa presented the Unit’s mission and ongoing activities, with particular emphasis on its work in Guinea-Bissau.
Among the topics discussed was the "Project Document for the Implementation of the National Digital Transformation Strategy for Guinea-Bissau", an initiative designed to establish clear priorities, define governance structures, and identify the key partners and resources required to support the implementation of the country’s digital transformation strategy.
The meeting provided an opportunity to strengthen dialogue and foster knowledge exchange on digital governance and public sector transformation, while exploring potential opportunities for future collaboration.
