Last Call for UN–Portugal Digital Fellowship

Third edition of the Fellowship was launched in New York City. Nominations close on 2 February 2026.

The Permanent Mission of Portugal to the United Nations, together with the United Nations University Operating Unit on Policy-Driven Electronic Governance (UNU-EGOV), hosted a breakfast briefing on 20 January to launch the 3rd edition of the UN-Portugal Digital Fellowship.

The 3rd edition of the Fellowship will take place from 13 to 17 April 2026 at UNU-EGOV, in Guimarães, Portugal.

Fully funded by the Portuguese Government, the Fellowship is an in-person capacity-building programme for senior public officials and diplomats from developing countries, focused on digital transformation and digital governance for sustainable development. Participants at this breakfast briefing discussed the programme’s objectives, structure and nomination process.

The Fellowship reflects the importance given by Portugal’s Development Cooperation Strategy to digital transformation as a means to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the SDGs, in particular for developing countries, by fostering prosperity, strengthening public institutions, and improving the quality of life of citizens.
