About DNC2027
Since 2015, the Dresden Nexus Conference has been the leading international platform for the Resource Nexus approach, bringing together researchers, policymakers, practitioners, UN agencies and civil society. After ten years in Dresden, DNC now leaves Germany for the first time: DNC 2027 convenes in Barcelona for a Mediterranean Edition to link the conference's focus on integrated management of environmental resources to the host region's environment that is characterised by water-scarcity, and the question of managing the land–sea continuum that is of particular relevance to coastal regions such as those of the Mediterranean.
What is the Resource Nexus?
The Resource Nexus treats environmental resources, such as water, soil, waste, energy, land or materials as one interconnected system rather
than separate silos, since action on one resource creates trade-offs and synergies elsewhere. It is the umbrella under which other nexus
framings sit: the Water-Energy-Food (WEF) Nexus and the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus each foreground a particular set of
resource interactions, while the Resource Nexus situates them within the fuller system of resources, governance and planetary health.
Thematic Areas
