Rima Amoura is a Visiting Research Fellow at UNU-CRIS.

Rima Amoura is an Assistant Professor and researcher in architecture at the École Polytechnique d’Architecture et d’Urbanisme (EPAU) and the University of Blida 1, Algeria. Her work focuses on risk management, climate resilience, and the regeneration of the city–sea interface, with particular emphasis on climate change adaptation strategies in vulnerable urban contexts. Her doctoral research, based on the case of Algiers, examines adaptive responses to sea-level rise and proposes strategic pathways to strengthen the resilience of coastal cities.

Her research adopts an interdisciplinary approach combining urban planning, cartography, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to assess spatial vulnerabilities and support informed decision-making. She has contributed to peer-reviewed scientific publications and teaches courses in architecture, cartography, as well as urban governance and management. In addition, she has been actively involved in institutional responsibilities, notably as a member of the Quality Assurance Unit at EPAU and as a participant in the ISO 9001 certification steering committee, while supervising graduate-level internships in professional settings.

As part of her Visiting Research Fellowship at UNU-CRIS, Rima Amoura will collaborate with Nidhi Nagabhatla within the Nature, Climate and Health Cluster. Her stay will include direct scholarly exchanges and active participation in ongoing research discussions. Her research project focuses on assessing the potential of green roofs as a climate change adaptation strategy, with the aim of contributing to the development of sustainable and resilient urban solutions.
