Chaimaa is a research intern at UNU-CRIS.

During her research internship at UNU-CRIS, Chaimaa is working on the preparation of two policy briefs on the UN80 initiative under the supervision of Andrew Dunn and Philippe De Lombaerde within the Re-LAB Cluster. In collaboration with two fellow students, she examines the regional dimensions of this system-wide UN reform process, focusing on how the proposed changes address overlapping mandates among UN agencies, the balance between centralization and regional coordination, and the evolving role of regional commissions in global governance. Her research contributes to a broader policy reflection on how the UN can enhance its institutional efficiency and responsiveness in a rapidly changing geopolitical and fiscal environment.

Chaimaa is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Administration and Management at Ghent University, building on a Bachelor’s degree in the same field. The multidisciplinary nature of her studies enables her to approach complex governance challenges from different perspectives. Throughout her academic trajectory, she has cultivated a particular interest in international governance, multilateral cooperation, and institutional reform processes.

Beyond her formal education, Chaimaa has further engaged with sustainability and global challenges through her participation in the Blended Intensive Program on sustainability. She also took part in a study visit to EU institutions in Luxembourg, which strengthened her practical understanding of EU governance, stakeholder engagement, and the role of regional bodies in implementing supranational policies. These academic and extracurricular experiences have reinforced her ambition to contribute to evidence-based policymaking and innovative governance solutions at both the regional and international levels.
