Carlos Fonseca is a PhD fellow at UNU-CRIS
Carlos works under the Regions and Cities Governance Lab (Re-LAB), the Digital Governance Cluster, and the Ghent Institute for International and European Studies (GIES). His research focuses on EU–Latin America and Caribbean relations, with particular attention to regionalism and the intersection of digital, development, and security policies. His PhD project examines how EU issue-specific cooperation initiatives affect processes of regionalisation in LAC.
Carlos holds a Master’s degree in Global Studies from the University of Salerno and a M.A. in European Interdisciplinary Studies from the College of Europe. Before joining UNU-CRIS, Carlos worked as a research assistant at the Internet and Communication Policy Centre at the University of Salerno. He also interned at UNU-CRIS, contributing to the Re-LAB and the Digital Governance Cluster, with a focus on regionalism and internet governance.
