Hosted by UNU-CPR in partnership with the Governments of Brazil and Germany (tbc) and the British Academy, this closed-door workshop will bring together experts to examine concrete pathways for reforming global climate governance.
The event builds on recent high-level initiatives to advance a more coordinated, inclusive, and effective multilateral response to the climate crisis, including President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s call at the 2024 G20 Summit for a UN Climate Change Council as well as ongoing efforts under the COP30 Presidency.
The second in a series of workshops, the event will explore structural reforms and institutional models that can support more adaptive, agile and cooperative climate governance. Drawing on insights from complexity science, international cooperation and systems innovation, the sessions will address how institutions can evolve with risk, integrate diverse knowledge and foster meaningful political momentum.
The outcomes of the discussion will contribute to a synthesis paper that will be released ahead of key moments on the global calendar, including the UN General Assembly in September and COP30 in November. By focusing on actionable design, the workshop aims to support the transition from high-level ambition to institutional capability.
This event will take place under Chatham House Rules and is by invitation only.
