The UNU-VIE Visiting Scientist Programme welcomes a limited number of external PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, senior scientists as well as practitioners interested in conducting collaborative research or educational activities. Visiting scientists can be placed within the research divisions of UNU-EHS and UNU-VIE. UNU in Bonn hosts the visiting scientists, but does not provide any financial support. Visiting scientists are obligated to provide their own funding and to contribute to the institutional knowledge of UNU in Bonn through lecturing, writing or project development.
Visiting Scientists have the opportunity to present their own research to UNU-EHS and UNU-VIE researchers in the form of a colloquium.
There is no formalized application process to become a visiting scientist. A research stay is only offered upon securing the agreement of a UNU-EHS or UNU-VIE head of academic division/senior researcher to supervise the stay, obtaining approval from the Director of UNU-EHS/Vice-Rector in Europe, and determining the availability of in-house resources available to accommodate the visiting scientist.
Interested parties should contact academic heads of research divisions directly to inquire about research stays.
