About the Programme:
This 3-day educational programme, offered by our Capacity Development Office, will be academically led by Emeritus professor and former Dutch Minister of Education, Prof. Dr. Jo Ritzen.
Aimed at senior university staff, this course offers insight into a variety of university financing mechanisms and will provide leaders from diverse educational systems the opportunity to expand their leadership, understand various financing strategies available for universities and be introduced to a set of culturally diverse educational leadership approaches. The core of the programme consists of lectures and interactive session under academic guidance of Professor Ritzen. His contributions will be complemented by shared experiences of guest speakers.
The state of art of university leadership will be the most essential element of the curriculum. Building on practical university experiences, the seminar will cover best practice examples as well as sub-optimal outcome cases. Cases will be explained, and explored using different scenario of potential implementations and their consequences for various actor groups.
Specific attention is given to peer learning among participants. In specifically designed interactive exercises, participants will be introduced to each other’s educational systems and provide feedback to contextual cases. Through the engagement with an internationally diverse, high level group of educational leaders and policy makers, participants will build intercultural competences and understand implications of local context among university settings.
Participants will finish the programme well equipped to chart their course in building better educational opportunities for students. Successful completion will be awarded with a UNU-MERIT/Maastricht University digital badge.
